Friday evening people gathered in Ardmore, PA to watch a performance presented by Tired Hands Brewing Company. Wiki, who some know as 1/3 of New York City hip-hop group Ratking, teamed up with Tired hands to brew a one of a kind malt liquor which was only to be sold at this event. The brewery is becoming known for consistently pushing boundaries within the realm of craft beer, a recent example being their Passionfruit Milkshake IPA. The offering this night featured Leppy Coquí, a weird malt liquor brewed with Wiki himself, and the connection was clear. Brewed with malts, wildflower honey, and then conditioned on a heap of hibiscus flowers, the purple hued malt liquor didn't only taste phenomenal, but it also was a prime example of what can result of two creative mediums coming together.
Having released his recent solo project Lil Me this past December, he ran through tracks such as "Livin' With My Moms", "Hit the L", "Crib Tax", and more. It was a mix between raw energy and people just appreciating Wiki as an artist as they sipped on Leppy Coquí. It was something different, but these are the kinds of things that bring cultures together and help them grow. It wasn't long before Slicky Boy spit "Sonatine" with Wiki, the night coming to an end, and the taps began to run dry. We can only look forward to more from Wiki and the Letter Racer NY team. Ratking embarks on a tour with Animal Collective later this month, tickets and dates can be found here, and be sure to download Wiki's recent project Lil Me here.
