Hoover

After releasing Unknown Memory in 2014, Yung Lean seemed to have dipped back into the shadows of Stockholm. Releasing tracks at a rate slow enough to make us all turn into sadboys and sadgirls, some wondered what his next moves were. It was almost a year ago, December of 2014, that Yung Lean closed out his first North American tour, the "Black Marble Tour." People weren't necessarily content with the lack of releases hes put out since, as people could only sip iced tea while listening to "Crystal Clear Ice" for so long.

A little over a year since Yung Lean released Unknown Memory, he reignites the flame with a new single, "Hoover." Produced by Onirim and directed by Leo Siboni,  Leandoer is captured floating across the horizon of a cemetery atop a dirt bike. Yung Gud masterfully pieces together what seems to be the sounds of tornado sirens, rainfall, echoes of steel, and a bassline made of aux cord static. Yung Lean is going through an evolution, it becomes clear with the stark rawness of this release. While retaining the traits of what is expected of Yung Lean's music, "Hoover" begins to break away into something different. This here proves that all of the people whom thought he took this industry in a non-serious manner, are most definitely wrong. If his future sounds like this, I suppose we can all look forward to it.

Forevermore Express

The Beast Coast movement is continuing to spread, as The Underachievers have rallied some troops to embark on their headlining tour, The Forevermore Express Tour. The lineup features Bodega Bamz, Kirk Knight, Pouya & the Buffet Boys, and The Underachievers. More East Coast dates remain as they travel south, tickets for the remaining dates can be purchased here.

The tour recently hit Philadelphia, PA this past Monday to wreak havoc at Voltage Lounge. Being an intimate venue, the crowd gathered shoulder to shoulder, patiently waiting for an act to take the stage. It was nearing eight o' clock and people were coming in and out of the tour bus, Bodega Bamz and Ohla continued to have their hair braided by fellow Tangirl Bonnie B, and Ace made some finishing touches to the playlist (Post Malone, Robb Bank$, Young Thug). With the crowd waiting and anticipation building, Ohla went on to speak about shooting film with his Pentax, and fellow Tanboys discussed "Hotline Bling" saving Drake's ass from his very mediocre collaborative album, What a Time to be Alive (we forgot about that right?).  It wasn't long before Pouya, Fat Nick, and Germ came through, followed by Kirk Knight and The Underachievers. Conversations were made and questions were asked, with The Buffet Boys making it clear that they wanted to know what spot has the best Philly Cheesesteak. When the show began, the crowd showed no mercy. Being an intimate venue, the entire floor quickly became a mosh pit and people had no other choice than to join in. The people of Philadelphia made it clear that the Beast Coast and artists alike are always welcome in the city. Photos from the night can be viewed below:

The Cohort Is Coming

Keith Ape, the man at the front the Korean trap scene, will be performing in New York this December thanks to Noisey. Born in Seoul, South Korea, the rapper quickly accrued attention worldwide with the viral release of "It G Ma" earlier this year. The track received some negative attention due to the similarity in sound to OG Maco's "U Guessed It." That didn't slow anything down for Keith Ape, as the massive positive reception was soon followed by the "It G Ma Remix", this time around featuring A$AP Ferg, Father, Dumbfoundead, and Waka Flocka Flame. At the point of release, the remix made for a great entry point for people to discover the Korean trap star and delve a little deeper into his library. Two months go by and now Keith Ape has begun "The Savage Haring Gallery", a weekly series in which he will be releasing a new single the Tuesday of each week to come.

This week he brings us "Psycho'15", produced by Junior Chef, an updated version of his '14 version. This time Robb Bank$ hops on the track only to make it clear the two artists work very well together, as Robb Bank$ fits right in with the sinister echoes of the track. As for Keith Ape performing in New York, he will be performing at the Marlin Room at Webster Hall on Thursday, December 17. Tickets can be purchased here (18+), in the meanwhile be sure to check out his new track "Psycho'15" below.
